We are Helping Hands Pantry, a non-profit public charity, with the goal of ending hunger in the Inland Empire. We serve 10,000 to 14,000 people weekly. In order to reach some of the most vulnerable, we need to stay mobile. Our mobile pantry truck is out 7 days a week and it makes it easier to reach many, being that most homeless, especially those with mental health issues, do not have transportation.
But there’s a problem
Our mobile pantry truck is a 1981 Chevrolet, that has seen better days. It is currently on engine number 3 in the past 8 years, we are in great need of an upgrade. Without the mobile pantry truck, we can’t reach many of the most vulnerable people.
Here’s what we’re doing about it
We are going to purchase a commercial heavy duty diesel van, to replace our 1981 Chevrolet. This heavy duty van will cost $64,687.98.
