Haiti: Hands On (est. 2012) is a student-run non-profit organisation started by UAE high schoolers aimed at sustainable youth-empowered and community-led development projects in Haiti.
Currently working in the Terre Froide community in Fonds-Verrettes Haiti, we have been focused on the construction, development and maintenance of a community-owned primary school, Terre Froide Community School, in light of our strong belief in the essentiality of quality education to achieve personal and regional development.
Lamia Makkar cofounded Haiti: Hands On in 2012, at 13-years old, to provide quality, all-inclusive education in rural Haiti. Today, she continues her work in Haiti as the CEO of Haiti: Hands On, having now successfully launched their first community-led school in rural Haiti, and works as an international speaker and development project consultant.
